Default An gaeilge is measa atá feicthe agat?

Nílim ag labhairt faoi daoine a bhfuil an gaeilge á foghlaim acu nó a bhfuil ag iarradh cúpla focal a úsáid ach ar fógraí nó a leithéad. Is fuath liom nuair nach gcuirtear aon iarracht ar bith isteach leo.

I stáisiún traenach i mBaile Átha Cliath chonaic mé "Fan taobh líne buí" i gcomhair "Stay behind the Yellow Line".
Agus tá rud éigean ar siúl an tseachtain seo chugainn i teach tabhairne in aice liom dárbh ainm "Rud é". B'fhéidir g bhfuilim neamheolach ach ní doigh liom go bhfuil ciall ar bith le 'rud é'.

Bhuel...tá costas mór ag baint leis an aistriúchán chomh maith. Ní leithscéal é ach thuigféa cén fáth nach usáideann siad aistritheoir gairmúla. Tógann siad a lán am chun an aistrúchán a dhéanamh fresin.

San nuachtán úd Foinse, sul ar éag sé (agus goileann sé go mór orm nach bhfuil fonn ar ár Rialtas - má's Rialtas é – taca a thabhairt do foilseacháin dá leithéid sin) – eannaí bhué: chonac an ráiteas seo: "Bhí orainn an seó a choinneáil ag dul" – Agallamh leis an aisteoir úd Duchovny as an X files abhí ann. Ouch! Cheapas ar dtús go raibh an Ghaeilge aige – truaillithe gan dabht, ach cúis iontais dom go raibh aon smid aige. Ach, dar ndóigh, aistriúchán a bhí ann.
Níos measa: chualas ar T na G: "Táimíd ag rith amach as am". Agus chualas ó chara liom: "Táimíd ag rith amach as siúcra!" – Ach bhí mo chara ag magadh fúm, agus bhí an léiritheoir lán dáiríre. Ná beirigí libh go bhfuil fonn orm laincisí a chur ar éinne go bhfuil fonn air an Ghaeilge a úsáid, na "cúpla focal", fiú; ach measaim gur chóir dos na daoine go bhfuil an Ghaeilge acu (mar shampla, lucht T na G) fíor-Ghaeilge a labhairt in ionad Béarlachais, nó patois trúaillithe. Mar adúirt Gaeilgeoir as Conamara tamall ó shin (agus bhí sé lán dáiríre!): "Tá an t-Adhrais leanguits focáilte i gceart ag na h-Ingis spícirs!" – Go bhfóire Dia orainn!
