"clarified", what the fuck does that mean?! They've agreed on a figure?

Still years before this thing goes ahead I'd say. Coveney knows his seat is safe because of his Brexit heroics.

Anyone that votes for that dope is an idiot. Two terms in government and has done jackshit for Cork.

Heard him on Sean O'Rourke earlier giving an impassioned defence of Maria Bailey. An utter dickhead of a man.

When the government is spending hundreds of millions on state of the art motorways from Gort to Tuam, 50 million on an Events Centre is a drop in the ocean and will be a huge benefit to the city.

Great to see the whole thing edging towards - lift off, once those ABP issues are sorted out.

The Examiner/Echo must have done 30 front page 'Event centre underway' stories at this stage.

A project that has stalled for a decade and has doubled in cost might get moving. What a coup for Simon.

It's an election year. I'l believe once work is underway at the site.

work getting underway is no guarantee of work finishing (on time or at all, see celtic tiger crash)

I'll believe once work is finished
