Default Buying Gear in America

anyone know what the craic is with bringing back equipment from the states?

goin to NY in november and thinkin of buyin myself 1 or maybe 2 CDJ1000mk2's.

america work on 110 volts where here we have 220/240 volts. Need transformer to use them here me think

na afaik all gear has a voltage switch on the back covered over so you dont flick it by mistake. 110 to 240

Vinyl decks do alright, but I'm not so sure about teh CDJs. I'll ahve a look at mine tonight when I get home to make sure though.

think you can get a plug adapter that has the voltage converter anyway for a small price.

i brought a bunch of stuff back from canada. you can get an adaptor back here if they arent dual volatage (it will say). the only thing you might think twice about is any amplifiers which are high power. CDJs should be fine, as are mixers, etc...

you should get a decent adaptor (called a stepdown transformer) though, one which is rated for a few hundred watts. they sell tiny cheap ones, which they say work for hair dryers, but some of them buzz like crazy if you use any other gear on them. you can probably pick up the adaptor in the states as well. http://www.google.com/search?q=step+down+transformer

actually, probably a low watt one will be fine for CDJs... but a good rule of thumb is to get a power adaptor which is rated at least twice as many watts as what the device needs.

doesn't look like there's a step down switch so i might go for the ol transformer , depends on price too thou
