Default Cork legal business doing well out of compo claims;

Almost half of the cost of compo cases to the City Council has gone on legal costs;

Cork City Council paid out more than €4.38 million on compensation claims and associated legal costs in 2018.

Of that figure almost €2 million was spent on legal costs, while €2.44 million was the total amount of compensation paid out.

You find that funny do you? Says a lot about your mentality alright.

I am sure that money could be better spent by the City Council rather than to the scum of the earth compo hunting solicitors

The council took a decision a number of years ago to fight pretty much every claim. It was a good idea imo as they had a reputation for many years of paying out claims with little to no investigation.

This decision means they pay more on legal fees ( because they take matters to trial rather than settle them) but that they pay out fewer claims overall and it discourages frivolous claims.

Nope, what I find funny is you and your obsession with the legal profession, every single post. Says a lot about your mentality and the probability of you being stuck in a dead end job.

You'd still get plenty of solicitors looking to take on these Mickey Mouse claims.

Maybe you do, but the council fight them all so the chances of being successful with a frivolous claim are greatly reduced.

Does that mean they pursue them all into the court room?

Do you know has anyone been prosecuted for fraud with regard to people making false and exaggerated claims.
