You have to fill in the ESTA online. Think it's valid for 2 years. Just be careful that it's definitely the right website if you google it cos there's loads of fake ones out there. It should end in .gov I think

https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/

They recommend doing it 2 weeks in advance of the departure date but you should still be ok because mine only took 72 hours to process.

Don't pay over $14 or whatever either, lots of scam websites for that.

You'll get it back immediately.

What are the travel essentials for US?

1) Passport
2) Complete the Waiver
3) I have a Visa Debit Card, not a Credit Card? is this a problem? I won't be hiring a car...staying in hotels.
4) Cash, flight tickets.
5) Travel Insurance....

When I filled out the ESTA form online, I got approval immediately. Is this normal?

Most hotels pre-authorise a load of money on your card for 'incidentals', sometimes as much as 100 dollars a night, so make sure you've plenty of cash in your account.
