Downtownsounds is proud to announce Manchester's demon deckwreckers The Unabombers as the special guests for the first in a series of one-off parties around Dublin and beyond to celebrate our 10th Birthday.

The Unabombers ran a much loved night in the rainy city for 13 years called ‘Electric Chair’, releasing 7 mix albums of their inimitable ‘Northern Sulphuric Souling’ style - a heady brew of soul, hip hop, freaky deaky r’n’b, diva disco, house, techno and other 21st Century dancefloor slayers.

Since winding up Electric Chair in early 2008 The Unabombers have gone on to run 'Electric Elephant', a 4 day festival in the Adriatic coastal town of Petrcane, a beautiful place which many people have dubbed 'The New Ibiza'.

They also produced an album as The Elektrons which gained heavyweight DJ support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Ashley Beedle and Gilles Peterson.

Some of the best times of our collective lives have been spent dancing to their merry tunes and we couldn’t think of a better way to kick off what we hope will be a momentous run of parties this year....


WHAT IS DOWNTOWNSOUNDS?!

It was all the way back in February 2001 that we threw our first parties, getting local hero Barry Redsetta to play alongside our residents at what used to be called Mono and is now The Village.

And so began ten years of musical hoe-downs concentrating on the funkier side of disco, soul, boogie, house, techno and beyond.

We've run nights in major Dublin venues like POD, Crawdaddy, Ri-Ra, The Academy and The Button Factory, and are currently aligned with the NightFlight collective (www.night-flight-music.com)

We'll be marking the 10th anniversary of our parties by releasing a mix CD of DTS classics in the Summer......
