You had to get money together in groups of 30K or something and bring it to Germany where there was some loophole in their federal legislation. But when it returned you'd doubled your money.
Obviously too good to be true but yet some seemingly intelligent people bought into it.

I remember having an argument with a good pal of mine about it when I was saying it was a load of phooey after he'd asked me to invest. A few lads in my local at the time got their fingers well burnt on it

And it was widespread, right across the city and parts of the county.
Two years ago i went to a financial broker for advice on how to invest some redundancy money i had in a bank, he recommended i invest in a german company who buy old convents and schools and turn them into appartments, i thought long and hard and backed away, who knows maybe i could have made a nice few bob but i also could have been stung,

Of course he did, no doubt these scumbags, like all others vote for SF.
Hilarious spin on what was actually said. The SF politician said he became aware of the racket from his constituents and brought it to the attention of the appropriate minister straight away. Said Minister doesn't appear to have been very proactive in having the problem resolved. But hey, let's shoot the messenger

Anyone who ever had dealings with that evil-incarnate Sister Sarto won't be overly surprised with this latest development.
