Default Movie Remakes - The Good, The Bad & The Downright Ugly

Watched IT (2017) again the other night and think it's one of the better remakes. In fact, I prefer it to the original.

Category: Good

Also watched Dirty Dancing remake recently and thought it was shocking. Just shocking. It's no wonder Jennifer Grey refused a role in it.

Category: Downright Ugly

Any movie remakes which have impressed or shocked you?

I can't think of any except Willy Wonka .

Personally I think there is no replacing Gene Wilder.

Haven't seen IT remake yet but looking forward to it immensely.
Cape Fear was not a bad remake

Agreed re: Cape Fear. I loved IT (2017) and Chapter 2 is out in 2019. Skarsgård makes a fantastic Pennywise The Dancing Clown.

The original Wonka film is the business and I didn't really like the remake.

The Omen! Awful, truly awful remake. Original is fantastic. Love Gregory Peck movies.

Very few remakes match up to the originals. Most recent ones have been dire.

I liked Dredd and actually preferred it to Judge Dredd.

There's a remake of Pet Sematary in the pipeline for 2019 - should be interesting for Stephen King fans with that and IT Chapter 2.
