I thought he was going to wait until the end of 2007 to leave united - you know it wouldn't be fair to uproot his wife in the middle of secondary school

I saw him play live a few months back in the final of the Rio state championships against Botafogo at the Maracana, looked decidedly average.

No doubt. Our tickets were in the Flamengo area of the ground. Full of the hardcore supporters. Atmosphere was savage, flares, fireworks and all that. Big fights kicked off between rival Flamengo factions once or twice. They won 1-0 in the end but the quality of football in the under-18s game beforehand was probably better

Things have not changed much then so...

Sounds savage. How was the game itself?

Something like a Carioca/Paulista state final or an Argentine superclasico are up the top of my list.
