Default 2020 Live At Marquee

Christy first act for 2020, June 27th.

Bit under the radar this, as only appearing on Christy Presale page:

People from rural places such as Lissarda and Coachford

You'd get a lot of fellas from Rochestown there too in their brown slip on shoes

The only time I ever seen Christy Moore was in the Marquee, went with my dad a few years ago.

Drink was served before the gig but the second he hit the stage the bars were closed. Some hypocrisy from a man who made millions from singing songs inspired by drinking.

Ya, i was at one of the early Marquee gigs, about 2006, got in about an hour before he was onstage and bars were already closed, these were his instructions apparently, but that has changed in more recent years. Christy is an alcoholic apparently, but those instructions are no longer given weight, as venues depend on the bar for revenue. I won’t be going to see him, but he is a great singer, and leaving out the Joxer & Lisdoonvarna malarky, there is enough good stuff he does, to merit seeing him once at least.

Saw him at the Millstreet music festival circa 2000. Was good craic.
Seeing as he has played Cork every year for nearly 15 years you would wonder where the demand is coming from.

I think he doesent’t really play much in other Munster venues, anymore, as he has this annual slot at Marquee, so big catchment area to support these gigs. Its always an all seated gig, so capacity reduced to i’d guess 3,000 ish, its a no brainer, 1 night here, or 3 at Opera House.
