Anyone that thinks we do not have political policing or Judges or in the DPP office is naive , all are political appointments.

That is your opinion, and it is legitimate. I tend to disagree, however.

Catherine Murphy is not a socialist so much as an old-style centre-ground social democrat. She does some good work but does not oppose the present system in any fundamental way.

Paul Murphy is a revolutionary socialist, and is an articulate proponent of that view. The impact he can (or would) expect to make in the Dáil is limited - as was the case for Joe Higgins. They would not expect to make serious advances in that direction outside of the context of extended social and economic crisis. They have for some time been calling for the establishment of a new left-wing party to fill the gap left by the rightward lurching of Labour. For example, the affiliation of Paul Murphy and the Socialist Party as a whole to the Anti-Austerity Alliance is down to a belief this group may become a new left formation to challenge the dominant neoliberal ideology. I expect the same holds for the SWP and People Before Profit.

Were the UK Labour Party to elect Corbyn as its leader, the aftermath (however that might play out) might well have a far greater impact on politics here than anything Paul Murphy or anyone else can do right now.

I don't think it is a great course of action, mainly because it means we have to listen to more pontification by Paul Murphy...

100% correct.

The same applies to so-called independent regulators. When Irish Water and the regulator came up with their first pricing structure, the government shrugged its shoulders and said it was nothing to do with them - the regulator was independent, after all.

Later, the government came up with a new pricing structure (100 euro cash back and all that) and the "independent" regulator endorsed it. Total farcical situation.

Having said all that, what they to Burton was very nasty and I am pleased that some members of that mob are being charged
