Your quite right. Nothing in the last number of years but starting off this years championship those are who I would see as genuine contenders looking to the future. Douglas have obviously had good underage and cork senior stars so it would be no surprise if they started getting into the latter stages quarters and semis.

That's the thing, everyone will have their own opinion 😂

Edit: TBH I'm not sure I'd even see the barrs as genuine contenders was just looking to get to the eight teams a poster earlier alluded to

Good game for the neutral to watch, CIT won because they were more balanced. Carbery looked like they actually finished with a stronger team than they started with.

KILLIAN O'HANLON was best player on view until fatigue kicked in late in 2nd half. Strong in the air and on the ground, some superb kicking too.

DAN DINEEN again was the standout forward in the game. Scoring with both feet but more importantly showing a massive work rate and not afraid to show for the dirty ball. Travesty not wearing the red jersey, whoever is responsible for that scenario arising, and continuing, after the lad has been in with Cork since U14, should be made accountable.

DAMIEN GORE was disappointing. All twists and turns but very little end product. Needs to show better for the ball from further out the field. Long way off both Dineen and being a starting Senior inter County player on this showing. Might be a case of spending too much game time on the bench with Seniors while missing all U20 challenge games...

To be fair the three O'DRISCOLLS were by far the main drivers for Carbery. SEAN RYAN midfield had a solid hour also.

BRIAN O'DRISCOLL got two serious goals, one from #6 in the 1st minute after a surging run, and the 2nd from #11 in the 2nd half again on the burst at pace, both ferocious finishes. Looked lean and sharp. Played like he had a point to prove. There are worse options than him for a run at the problem #11 position for Cork.

PETER MURPHY bizarrely started at #11 and was totally lost. Went back to #6 at HT but was well beaten by DINEEN in that match up.

CIT will have to find a few more to topple Duhallow in next round but I wouldn't rule it out.

Thanks Boom Boom Boy I have been on about Brian O Driscoll all the time I think he is a massive player tough but whats wrong with that I know he had a shoulder problem but if that is sorted he has got to be on the Cork team its a no brainer ...Dan Dineen we know the talent he is but its good to here he won dirty ball as well ….you would have to say that both O Driscoll and Dineen would be great additions to the panel but for reasons we don't know about they are not on it.

He did, fair play to the Duhallow sideline, Sweeney wasn't involved in 1st half at all, Donoghue (Kerry U20) kept him totally out of the game, they moved Sweeney off him for 2nd half and he immediately kicked 3 or 4 super pts in quick succession before Donoghue went back on him, but damage was done.

One thing from the game, the Cork 'county' players on view, were the best players on the pitch imo, Hanlon again lead CIT very well, got through a massive amount of work before fading in last 10 min, probably needs to mix up his game with a bit more kicking, carrying a lot of ball but suffering towards end of games, K Crowley, P Walsh and Sweeney were Duhallows best performers. Gore had a hot patch in 1st half, scored a great goal and couple of points, took some poor shooting options after that, got very little ball in the 2nd half. Kelly got some good Kickouts away at times.

Dan Dineen didn't play for CIT, injured from Carbery game by all accounts, massive loss, was looking forward to watching him in Senior club c'ship action again.

Good game, far higher quality than UCC v Muskerry. For the record, CIT started 9 Cork players, UCC 5.

He wasn't playing.

UCC had guys from all over the country - Cork, Kerry, Meath, Galway, Donegal, Clare, Limerick, Carlow.

None of the 5 Cork players they had (Lenihan, O'Sullivan & Grainger - St. Micheals, Ryan - Belgooly and Wall - Kilmurry) really stood out tbh.

Keeper from Kerry, defender from Carlow, midfielder from Limerick and forwards from Clare & Galway were their 5 best players on the night imo.

O'Toole and Kelleher were with Muskerry, both would want to have been as good as they were tbh. Both had moments in either half but neither dominated the game like their inter county colleagues did in the 2nd match.

Good to see Mullins (Eire Og) playing, did well at full back while game was competitive, came under pressure in last 10 min when UCC took over and were running through Muskerry at will.
