Only watched brief highlights of it there earlier but it looked like Edgbaston 2005 in reverse

Odds to regain/retain the Ashes

Australia 4/7
England 11/8

Australia only need to win one more test, England have to win one and draw one. A drawn series hands Australia the Ashes.

PP dont have that market but have Eng 7/5, Aus 12/5, Draw 7/4,

Aus are clearly a better team and with Smith back I would fancy them, Eng are on a high but the 10 day break will help Aus. Very impressed with Labuschagne-he takes Kagawa´s place I think.

A lot depends on Smith's form post-concussion. Although they had a shitty wicket on Thursday Aus clearly missed the batting chance to put England away in their second innings. The England chase was always a possibility as a result. If Smith can fire with Labuschange then Aus are surely out of sight at Old Trafford. Momentum is everything though and that's with the English now.

That's a bold claim. Smith is an all-time great and Labuschagne seems a very good discovery but apart from them the batting is pretty shaky. Their bowling is ok but none of their bowlers have put two good matches together yet. I'd say England have the bowling edge, esp if Anderson comes back. Aus have batting edge because of Smith but have less batting depth. Overall one victory each with one draw that England had the best of seems about right.

Australia 170/3 in a rain interrupted first day of the 4th test. Smith looking as imperious as ever.

Depends on the weather now, possibly some showers tomorrow and friday, but the Aussies could get themselves in a game winning position from here. Vital toss to win.
