Default Republic of Ireland Under-21'S

Ireland welcome Italy to a Tallaght Stadium 8,000 sell out on Thursday(tonight) (kick-off 8.05pm on RTE 2) as they look to continue their winning start to the qualifying campaign.

Worth a Watch!

FAI gave free tickets to this game and the ladies game Monday night to all season ticket holders.
While there was a few who didn't bother going to the ladies game Im sure there won't be many empty seats tonight.
Looking forward to it.

Any see the game? Decent result against the biggest side in the group. I didn’t see it but these guys are getting great reviews, playing some great football and getting results.

They deserve them. Tonight was a shitty night weather-wise for playing decent football, but we were always comfortable and positive on the ball. We probably had more chances than Italy, but nothing clear cut. A lot of efforts from outside the box that their keeper dealt with, and a free kick from Molumby that was well saved. We missed that little bit of class up front that Connolly might have provided.

Parrott was sent off, along with Kean for Italy for handbags. Will miss the Iceland game.

I thought the centre-back, O'Shea, right back O'Connor, Molumby and Idah up front were our stand out players. We should get four to five senior players out of this team.

We gave as good as we got tonight. No gulf in class or technique.

Fantastic performance, they never took a backwards step all night.

I really doubted Stephen Kenny as a senior manager but having seen a few of these u21 games live it's like a breath of fresh air to watch. He's really won me over. He's got a really talented bunch to work with but he's doing a fantastic job with them.

Keith Andrews appears to have a big input too. He is always talking to the players on the line and first one in with the arm around the shoulder and handshakes after the games. Strikes me as a real players guy. I read Connolly praising him to the hilt during the week too.

Referee spoilt it somewhat he was throwing cards around like confetti and was constantly putting himself in the middle. Parrot should never have been sent off, ridiculous call.

Idah and O Connor were brilliant. Molumby is a senior in waiting, really strong technical player and Coventry next to him does a good job too. Obafemi came on and I swear he is the fastest footballer I've ever seen live he skinned the full back at one point and it was like watching a roadrunner cartoon the legs were going that fast.

Brilliant result but tbh the performance was even better. Top of the group, with Iceland up next.

Total overreaction by the referee as was Parrott's

I know how rare it is for one group to produce so many but there is huge potential in this group to go on and have top careers for themselves.
Nathan Collins on the bench is a banker to make it. Serious clubs have been tracking him for a while. Has it all and the right attitude to boot.
Lee O Connor has potential.
Not sure yet about the keeper Kelleher.
Darragh o shea is doing well at West brom and has not put a foot wrong with the 21's. Could well make it.
Molumby is imo a class act who will make it.
Kilkenny and Knight were on the bench tonight. Not sure on them yet.
Idah has potential and could well make it, big man and getting bigger.
Obafemi, has raw pace. Looks a bit erratic in front of goal though.
Parrot should make it.
Connolly banker.
