Are DVD / R and DVD / RW as stable as each other?

i recon rw discs are more durable beause of their nature.

they dont scratch as easily.

r discs have a foil like material that is burned into when recording,
when compared to rw`s which use a organic marterial.

I still find that the odd (albeit very rare) RW disk wont play for a friend,
ie, cyclical redundandy error or whatever when accessed on a machine
other than the one on which it was created.
Never had that problem with a DVDR.

rw compatibility is as not as good generally as r`s
i'd say...
