Firstly, an outside manager is a total write off. Even if the all mighty would entertain the idea, the fact he would have to pay for it would kill it stone dead.

I'm not too encouraged by the likely names. I'd like Ricken to be considered.

Cuthbert has done nothing to merit a top inter county job. His Cork teams were a carbon copy of our seniors - miles behind the others in their tactics. Also out new generation have been listening to him for long enough. Much the same in relation to Cleary. Lost two All Ireland with poorly prepared teams packed with great players.

Names that haven't been thought of too much -

Eamon Ryan. Anyone who has worked with this man raves from the highest mountain about him. Possibly the best coach in Cork. Age is the only negative, but he is massively innovative and always looking ahead. Fantastic on the mental side too.

James McCarthy. Won the County with the Haven, and improved that team hugely. Bear in mind three of our key players should be from that Club in future. Perhaps if Cleary goes for it one up side would be that he would bring McCarthy in. The closest thing to a Horan/McGuiness figure that we have.

Billy Morgan....better the devil you know? He's always understood how football has developed. You can't imagine him not having developed us into one of the leaders in terms of tactics. He has done excellent work with UCC in recent years which shows he still has it. His hearth problems must rule this out you imagine.

The list of names is kind of depressing really. I expect Cuthburt. I just hope he stands back and sees the need for a top to bottom look at everything about how the previous set up operated. And get in the best men around him, with clear roles.

Eamon Ryan by a country mile. Jason Ryan next. Neither have a hope IMO.

Frank Murphy would not have him near a Cork team in a million years

He's been mentioned at least twice.

Agree he should be in the reckoning but as you know he would be an unlikely appointment to say the least

It will be cleary or cuthbert. can't imagine either will bring something radical to the table but you never know.

We have lots of players still coming through so its a great job to be taking on. The talent is certainly there for another AI

This is the first football appointment since the 08 crisis that led to Conor's appointment.

Was there player involvement agreed after that?
