Default UCC Battle of the DJ's 2008

ucc dj scoiety - battle of the djs 2008

The competition runs during Rag Week..
Monday 21st - Thursday 24th January

Venue: Old Bar UCC

We will provide a full set up of:

* 2 x Technics mk5's
* 2 x Pioneer cd decks
* 1 x Pioneer DJM600
* Ortofon needles.
* If preferred, you can bring your own mixer.


THE FORMAT FOR THE WEEK, SAME AS USUAL

* Monday 22nd - House
* Tuesday 23rd - Hip Hop (inc funk, soul, grooves etc...)
* Wednesday 24th - Techno (inc electro, minimal, detroit and dnb etc..)
* Thurday 25th - Final (one winner from each day)


Judges on the days TBC.
Each Judge will play a set after each heat as usual...

Here are the Rules:

1. Over 18's only.
2. DJ's who have had a residency in a club or bar in the last 12 months can not enter.
3. We cant tell ya what to play but try to stick close to one genre.
4. You cant play the same set in the final as in the heats (of course there might be one or two tunes you may want to use again, thats fine)
5. Winners of battle from previous years are not allowed to enter.
6. You can bring in your own needles and mixer but all other equipment provided must be used,fx box not permitted.
7. Judges decision is final.
8. Serato Scratch & Final Scratch ARE allowed.
8. Rules subject to change.

Times: 20 minutes a set in the heats with 8 slots per heat
40 minutes a set in the final

Entry fee: TBC

We strongly encourage people who attend the event to give generously to the bucket of charity, you can give out about bertie and squandering etc. but at the end of the day theres people a lot worse off than yerself.

Also, i thought they WERE allowed to use the fx box on the DJM600 last year?
why not this year?

you will be allowed if we can find a djm mixer that the fxbox works perfectly on, last year mine was used but Im not giving it out this year cause it needs a service and i cant get that done before the battle.

While Im here does anyone in cork know of a place that would service a djm 600?
