Default Biggest Sporting Match

Is this NZ game, Ireland's biggest sporting day in modern times?

For a sport that still doesn't quite capture the emotions of Irish society, it seems the game of the people is soccer, so therefore it is not a big deal in that sense.

Or is the 'Boys In Green' game next month who can guarantee themselves qualification for the European Championships Finals with a win against Denmark on the 18th November!

Maybe most people will just be having a lie in on Saturday!

I'm not sure either will really capture the masses. We've played, and lost, plenty of RWC quarters, and few think this will be different. Our soccer team is awful to watch and there's an air of inevitable loss about that Denmark game.

Meh x2.

I suppose the Japan defeat put a doubt in our chances!

That result is considered the "Greatest upsets in the history of Rugby World Cup", so at least Ireland's Rogby Boys can say they were part of their own piece of history and will always be remembered for this highlight!

At least Ireland are competitive in the rugger and are capable of beating the big sides.

The soccer team are a load of shit and have been for nearly twenty years.

If Ireland had any semblance of form it might have been.
Arguably Wales in 2011 was bigger but they shat their pants that day.
Arguably Argentina in 2015 was bigger but they shat their pants that day.

Ireland (indeed in any sport) caused enough of those upsets over the years.
Have to take it on the chin when it comes around too.
