Can't link, but it's on the Grauniad's main page. Thoughts?

Best longevity probably.

But the best player?

Not even top 10.

Most decorated. Amazing longevity & learned to modify his game when his core talents started to wane. Fabulous career.

You could make that case alright.

Barnes was a better winger but wasn't on the wing by the time the EPL started
Ronaldo was a far superior player but was he a true winger? Probably not by the time he started winning his player of the year awards.

Overmars was mroe effective than him for a while as was Pires but for longeivity I'd probably say giggs was the best in the premier league era.

All bias aside it's hard to make a case for any other player of 18 in 1992 that's had a bigger impact than Giggs.

He's kept himself fit, is unbelievably decorated and at 35 is enjoying a show of form as good as I can remember.

You can argue the merits of other players but who are you looking at really, Gary Speed?

his longevity is what is amazing really. Especially when you consider just how many hamstring injuries he used to get in his early 20's.

Contrast his career to that of Lee Sharpe, another gifted winger, who couldn't extend a career to his late 20's.
