Ivan Campo did a great job at Bolton at a similar age. Arsenal could do with someone of his mettle and experience or even one of the weaker teams.

Argentine defender Martin Demichelis will go on loan to Spanish club Malaga from Germany's Bayern Munich for six months with an option to extend.

Bild reported that Malaga would take over Demichelis' salary and pay a 3 million euros transfer fee at the end of the season if the club stays in Spain's top division.

Demichelis, who played in the World Cup in South Africa, lost his starting spot this season and has been keen on a move to get regular playing time.

"Yes, it's a done deal," the 30-year-old told Bild. "I've already said goodbye .... in the dressing room. It was seven unforgettable years."

Demichelis joined Bayern in 2003 and formed a successful central defensive partnership with Belgian Daniel van Buyten but both have performed below expectations over the past 18 months.
Might have bearing on MVBs availability

Few days ago, some parts of the Veltins Arena’s roof (Shalke 04 stadium) had holes due to the heavy snowfalls. This didn’t stop some funny lad to go pitch a Borussia Dortmund flag on top of it!

That bloke still remains unknown but one of Dortmund’s bars has just decided to offer him free beers for 1 year as well as a really good seat to watch Borussia’s games on their giant screen!

I’d say the club should just give him a season ticket for life after that!

Van Gaal gone

http://www.football365.com/story/0,1...863257,00.html

Louis van Gaal has been relieved of his duties as coach of Bayern Munich with immediate effect, the German club have confirmed.

The 59-year-old was due to leave the club at the end of the season but his departure has now been brought forward, with the club fourth in the Bundesliga and struggling to ensure qualification for next season's Champions League.

Van Gaal led the club to the league title last season, his first at the club, and also to the final of the Champions League. His assistant Andries Jonker will take charge until the end of the season, when Jupp Heynckes will succeed him as the club's new permanent boss.

Club bosses Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Uli Hoeness, Karl Hopfner and the director of sport Christian Nerlinger held crisis talks in the club's headquarters and subsequently informed Van Gaal of their decision to go separate ways last night after returning from Nurnberg, where the team drew 1-1.

"The board, director of sport and president of FC Bayern took this decision together," read a statement from the club.

"After the 1-1 draw in Nurnberg yesterday and the renewed slide to fourth in the table, and with the threat of missing out on the minimum aim of a place in the Champions League next season, this decision was taken in FC Bayern's best interests.

"Louis van Gaal's assistants Frans Hoek, Jos van Dijk and Max Reckers have also been relieved of their duties."

Bayern currently trail third-placed Hannover by a point and, were the season to end now, they would only be playing in the Europa League next season.

Since the final of the Champions League will be held at the Allianz Arena next year, failure to even qualify for the competition would be a severe disappointment for Bayern, who will now end the season without a single trophy.

That's one of the best things I've seen in ages! Fair play to him.

Result of the season so far for Dortmund, seeing as the CL project is taking a nosedive.
