Can't believe there's not more talk about this.

Hung Parliament. Biggest single party will be 5 Star (with about 37%), an anti establishment euro sceptic party aligned to Farage and Le Pen founded by a comedian a few years ago.

But the alliance of Berlusconi's Forza and Matteo Slavini's League Party, also euro sceptic, should hold power.

This is a major kick in the teeth for Brussels.

No one is up for leaving the Euro and EU and these Euro sceptics usually see sense once in actual power as part of any coalition.

Promising all sorts when your economy has gone down the pan will only get you so far in the real world.

Seriously though, although the leaving the EU rhetoric has cooled it's still a development the EU could do without. The immigration crisis (and EU disasters response) had a large say in this. Take Hungary etc into account and the rise of the right is rallying.

There will have to be some sort of grand coalition in Italy where these populist parties will have to govern and take hard decisions.

This will just lead to the usual Italian instability and another election in about 18 months.

The "hard right" was battered in the Netherlands and France recently and it will be interesting to see how the mini-Putins get on in the likes of Hungary etc.
