Surely we're looking at direct rule from Westminster for the foreseeable future?[

So the answer is no. They won't work together.

DUP seem to be aware a change in leadership is required.

Plus O'Neill makes it easier because it will be new with new.

If the Tories pull the plug, they are going to piss off unionists as much nationalists.
Do you still think DUP are aware a change of leadership is required? And if so does it matter one bit? Same circus different clown and all that.

CB, playing pitch has changed considerably since that was posted.
While the DUP own the Tories nothing is going to change.
They are quite happy with direct rule.
Neither government is putting any pressure on them to alleviate the pressures on the peace process by going back into the Executive.
It suits Leo to keep SF publicity to a minimum. He has done a fair job in that. May can't move without Arlene's permission on anything impacting the 6 counties so we will be set for a stalemate until one of those elements changes.

Nationalists are writing to the govt in Dublin for representation as SF are on a gap year between abstention in Westminster and no N.I. talking shop and Leo and Simon have seen the pitch clear and have taken up the nationalist baton and winding the D.U.P. up something terrible.

BTW the Irish Govt. never stops putting pressure on all parties to re-start the N.I. talking shop and SF get plenty of negative publicity for their weekly displays of stupidity.
