90% of the pubs mentioned so far are by no means dangerous places to go for a drink.

That said, you wouldn't take your missus into most of them.

I'm tempted to go into that Quirkies gaff for a sconce though.

When it was called Noel Murphy's there was a fella stabbed on the doorstep with a samurai sword by some looper who was just out of prison. This was about 3 hours after I had refused to serve the ex con in a bar in the same locality.

Why would anyone wish to drink in a hostelry with a reputation for being hard ?
If you live in Cork you're only a short taxi ride away from any one of Benny McCabe's fine drinking and eating emporiums.
Only yesterday I enjoyed a wonderfully crisp pint of Irish craft ale in the Crane before wandering over to the Bodega for a sumptuous lunch with Mrs Baggy.
Marvellous.

There's never trouble in the Friars Walk or Ma Dulleas. I've spent years drinking in both and never seen hassle.

Repped.

I've never seen hassle in The Josh either.

I think some people are mistaking rough looking/dingy for dangerous.
