It is Autumn 1964 and we are taken into the Murphy household, a Cork family of six who are Catholic and who deal with a slew of problems concerning everything from nuns, to sex, mood swinging parents, finances ... right down to why they have so many sugar-coated cereals in the cupboard.
Over The Pub is immensely touching and funny.

Set in Cork, its story carries us back to the sixties, Vatican 2, the Late Late Show
and introduces us to the Murphys: Mam,Dad and their four children, Eddie, Annie, Mikie and the hero of our tale, 12-year-old Tommy, a precocious kid who is starting to question family values and the Roman Catholic Church. He believes God put us on earth to “have fun,” and he’s trying to figure out why his family isn’t having any.

After breaking box office records all over the U.S., "Over the Tavern,"by Tom Dudzick the beloved American hit comedy about a family in Buffalo, has been lovingly transformed by Dolores Mannion to an Irish family in Cork City. Keeping all the charm laughs and love of the original intact, director Dolores Mannion introduces us to the Murphy family, with Ellen, the Mom, trying to maintain a bit of normality in her cramped, boisterous Irish-Catholic household over the family pub. With her hot-headed husband and four very active children, Ellen has her hands full. But when 12-year-old Tommy locks horns with a ruler-wielding nun and announces that, instead of being confirmed, he’d rather shop around for a more “fun” religion, all hell breaks loose.
