Following the success of his award-winning, hugely acclaimed 2009 album ‘Truelove’s Gutter’, Richard Hawley released his seventh studio album, ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’ in May.
Recorded at Sheffield’s Yellow Arch Studio in 2011, ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’ marks a seismic shift in direction for Hawley. The album is a euphoric, sonic assault on the senses, channelling elements of psychedelia, space rock and ragas with heavy riffs and raw, visceral guitar solos – as well as more familiar, tender moments – which will surprise Hawley’s fans and peers alike.

Exploring lyrical themes of love, loss, redemption and darker areas of the human condition, it’s an album of ominous storytelling and cosmic exploration, sung in Hawley’s rich baritone and soundtracked by an epic musical journey in glorious, menacing Technicolor. In the tradition of Hawley’s previous albums, the title is inspired by an area of Sheffield.

Hawley says of the album, “I wanted to get away from the orchestration of my previous records and make a live album with two guitars, bass, drums and rocket noises!”

Meanwhile, Parlophone just launched the Richard Hawley Singles Club, beginning with a Record Store Day 10” release (April 21st) of his first single from the album, Leave Your Body Behind You, which features bonus track You Haunt Me, available via Independent record shops and from Hawley’s website.

The Singles Club will be a series of 10” singles, b/w exclusive bonus tracks, to be released throughout the next 12 months (more information available soon at:

Is this gig actually going to go ahead or will it be cancelled/moved to the Opera House like the Mastodon/Stewart Lee gigs of the last month or so?

I really hope it does go ahead.

Richard Hawley is deadly.

I was going to ask the same question - what are the odds of this actually taking place in the Savoy.

Default Savoy

I have been told by the new owners that it will be open in October after a refit and up
grade.
The specs that i've been given show new Pa and lighting and several changes to layout .
I'm sure they will post on here in due course to outline the full plan.
I wouldn't of booked Richard Hawley at the Savoy if I wasn't sure it would be open in time.
Its one of four shows that I have booked in this year and I'm told there are a healthy amount of shows booked by other promoters.
