So is it an event sponsored by the Examiner? Like the local festivals we have here?

Usually public areas are free to use for these type of events because of the business they bring in. The council would offer free use to encourage exhibitors

It's an event run by a private company with funding from City Council and sponsorship from Irish Examiner.

Anyone been there? How much is it & is it worth it? Is it suitable for kids?
Was thinking of going for a look today but the weather is kind of putting me off now, where's the sun gone : (

City council call the shots with the park so if they think itll bring in a few thousand tourists and bump our reputation as a 'food destination' as well as getting a big rental fee (council are running a large deficit) then Ive no problem with it.

Last weekend they had the street performance festival down there and it was free in. Brilliant event.

There's a big kick on from the food fest and similar events cork should be positioning itself as tourist destination more

The prices etc were more reasonable this year by all accounts and the organisers learned from last years mistakes

JT bars pay rates and lots more too

Our council should be encouraging adding life to the city and in this regard they do

Having people drink their beer, coffee or eat their food outside breathes life into the streets.

"the publicans should be giving me and you a cut of their profits outdoors"

That's hilarious.

€12 for what exactly? That's €12 less you've to spend on the businesses they are trying to promote on the day. Why not free, and charge a few euro for the demos or something? I love going to farmers markets and the likes, but €12 for tiny samples, is expensive. Surely the more people in the there the better? Or is it if the people are too mean to spend €12, they aren't worth it as customers? The event is sponsored, the council own the park, so where is the €12 going? Insurance or what. Are the people with stands getting a cut out of it?

€12 to keep scumbags out I'd say.

I presume the E12 to cover costs and has a profit built in. It's a commercial event run for commercial reasons.
