PAUL LANGLEY
Few DJs can claim such heritage going way back to the 80′s – but Paul Langley was well on his way having entered the UK DMC mixing championships in 1988 as well as touring in Hip Hop group ‘Sylk Kut’ alongside De La Soul and Sugar Bear.
The late 80′s saw Paul immerse himself in Acid House and by the time 1992 arrived and he had visited one of the legendary ‘Lost’ parties, he was certain his destiny lay in techno.
He began running club nights in London as well as DJing on London’s infamous Chillin FM. 1997 saw the beginning of a long standing friendship with DJ Rush who invited him over to Berlin that year to play at the Love Parade. A year later and a slew of releases followed on Rush’s Kne Deep imprint, Off the Wall, and Justin Berkovi’s Predicaments Label.
After this Paul released over 35 Eps on various labels such as High Octane, 4×4, Tonewrecker, Audio Textures, Dark House Music and many more. In the past few years he’s hooked up with Jamie Bissmire from the Space DJs and DJ Bam Bam on both their 50Hz and Bass Heavy Music record labels. Paul even went on to form his Jackstar label in 2001 to cater for a new edge in Chicago hard funk music. The label goes from strength to strength with releases from Rush, Switchblade, DJ Bam Bam, Jamie Bissmire, Boris S and many more.
The hard work has paid off – Paul’s DJ career reached new heights and he’s played internationally from the most intimate underground clubs to the biggest festivals such as I Love Techno, Tomorrowland, Tresor, Lipa in Slovenia, Circuito in Brazil, Awakenings in Holland and joins Frank Kvitta’s Enhanced Music Bookings playing alongside Frank, Boris S, DJ Bold and David Christoph.
Paul played most of the the summer festivals in 2010, headlining the ‘Ghost’ stage at the now legendary Tomorrowland festival. Future releases will be on Bullshit Records, Cause, Potential and of course Paul’s own Jackstar imprint.
A relentless production and gigging schedule means Paul’s always busy but remains focused and passionate about techno and is one of today’s true players.
