A stark warning that Israel will attack Iran unless it agrees to halt its military nuclear programme has been passed to Teheran by the Russians.
The ultimatum was delivered on the eve of President Putins visit to Jerusalem for talks with Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister.
An Israeli envoy in Moscow has warned Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, that a decision had already been taken to strike Iran and it is now only a matter of timing.
According to Russian diplomatic resources "Putin will warn Netanyahu that he will bear personal responsibility for the chaos that prevails in the Middle East as the result of such an attack".
Moscow has become convinced that the Israelis are serious about a military strike, especially after talks with Iran last week made little progress. " I do'nt think they are bluffing" said the Russian source.
In a sign that preparations are being made, Israel is said to have reached an understanding with Saudi Arabia that its attack jets will be able to refuel over Saudi terrority.

I hope that you are right in that analysis, Liam, as the Israelis have some form in pre-emptive strikes!
Different situation to 1967 due to the politics of the area. The Arab spring, Israel alienating Turkey with it's murders in international waters, Iran actually being able to defend itself and the Russian and Chinese interests in the area make Israel going alone a very risky proposition.
Hence the courting of the US last year, but that backfired too.
Israel has it's own internal problems with the rise of Hasidic extremism which I wouldn't surprised me if this sabre rattling is more for a related domestic audience
