Default Travelling Through Europe - What Must I Do?

Have a summer trek planned - stopping in Amsterdam, Berlin, Dresden, Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, Ljubljana, Split, Hvar, Dubrovnik, Milan and Nice.

Anyone have any suggestions of things to do in each of the cities? I'm open to pretty much anything!! Doesn't have to be the usual tourist things or sites, just want to make the most of the cities when I'm there.

Don't stick to a definite plan, roll with it. Pick destinations in the train station even!

Would strongly recommend a few days in Berlin, theres an old thread here with great info:
http://www.peoplesrepublicofcork.com...ghlight=berlin

I got the train once from Berlin to Amsterdam, details on www.bahn.de
The earlier you book the cheaper it is.

Your trip sounds like an interrail pass might be a good option.

The route we took for the 7 day trip was flew from Cork to Nice(Aerlingus), few days there, then flew to Berlin on Easyjet, train to Amsterdam and then a flight home from Amsterdam.

Berlin was definitely the best city of the 3 , loads to do there, great nightlife also.

We have 5 nights in Berlin planned. Have a lot of the trip planned already - accommodation and travel combined came to about €750, significantly less than it would have had we bought a pass actually so that was a great boost.

Have our train from Amsterdam to Berlin booked too. Lucky we did - price difference is immense. I'll look at that Berlin thread, thanks!

When in Dubrovnik would you travel up the coast a bit and get the ferry across to Venice and then travel up through Verona towards Milan? day spend a night in Venice and then short train up to Verona to spend the day there and onwards to Milan. Veniceto Verona is only like 2 hours if i remember and Milan wouldnt be to much further on again.

That was our original plan actually but the cost of it rapidly spiralled out of control. The train system in Italy is difficult to manage at best. Instead, we found a flight from Dubrovnik to Milan so unfortunately we will miss out on the travel there.

However, we have since decided that we will get the ferry from Rijeka to Split and travel along to Hvar and Dubrovnik in the same manner.

Nice, i would still recommend a little day trip to Verona from Milan we did it when in Venice and it was well worth it. Just buy a normal ticket and play dumb and get on the fast train.

Sounds like something I might do - not a huge amount that interests me in Milan tbh. Only ended up picking there because our flight landed there so...

Aside from the odd touristy thing, I'm looking for something interesting there. Baring in mind I'll be on the back of four weeks of travelling already at this stage, the cheaper the better please!!
