At the end of Sept 2003, Cyprus Avenue flung open its doors as an intimate gig venue in the heart of Cork City.

To celebrate our 5th birthday, we're putting together a special programme between end Sept, right through the month of October, selecting some of our favourite acts who have played with us over the years, and throwing in one or two of our heroes, while always looking forward to bringing fresh quality acts into Cork.
The first announcement for will be made at 11pm on Monday 16th June, and go on sale at midnight the same night.

'Influential', hmmm ........has to be The Velvet Underground......... ....if not, then I'm guessing either Echo and the Bunnymen, The Only Ones or the Jesus and Mary Chain ?
Well maybe if Lou Reed really likes Cork after his next visit he might consider returning and maybe even dig up Nico!

Ah sure he's looked like that for the last 25 years. I actually saw them the last time they played in Cork (and only time as far as I know). It was in the Arc around 1979 or 1980 and U2 played support.

That must have been an amazing gig! Thats way before U2 went up their own asses and around the time Only Ones were at their best.
Seriously, though, how can someone who has been taking Heroin that long still be able to play. They even toured this year!
