MANCHESTER United won the title yesterday – for having the most fans arrested in the Premiership.
Cops held 192 at Old Trafford and away games last season. That’s more than any other team, a Home Office report said yesterday – though United have easily the biggest following.
Most were nicked for public disorder, violent disorder, being drunk, missile throwing and possessing offensive weapons.
CHELSEA were runners-up with 135 arrests.
TOTTENHAM and NEWCASTLE were joint third with 117 arrests each. WEST HAM were fifth with 111.
FULHAM had the best-behaved fans with just eight being nicked.
Overall the number of fans held was eight per cent up on the previous season – which the Home Office said was due to a “tougher police approach.”
But there was a six per cent drop in arrests for violent disorder.
Bet some bumslappers will be saying its cos they have the most fans.
