Post Cyprus Avenue 2003 - ....

At the end of Sept 2003, Cyprus Avenue flung open its doors as an intimate gig venue in the heart of Cork City.
Over the last 5 years, we have been lucky to have so many acts grace our stage including:
Snow Patrol, The Thrills, Duffy, Laura Izibor, Editors, Ocean Colour Scene, Duke Special, Saul Williams, Delorentos, Cathy Davey, Dirty Pretty Things, Paddy Casey, The Automatic, The Pigeon Detectives, Republic Of Loose, Mundy, Sharon Shannon, Therapy?, Kila, The Blizzards, Damien Dempsey, New Young Pony Club, The Go! Team, The Bluetones, American Music Club, Marky Ramone (Ramones), The Beat, Chris Pontius (Jackass), Sultans Of Ping, Director, Frank & Walters, Rubyhorse, Stars, Asian Dub Foundation, Josh Rouse, Erin McKeown, Fionn Regan, British Sea Power, Sons & Daughters, The Twang, Cooper Temple Clause, Nine Black Alps, The Pharcyde, Buck 65, Reamonn, Future Kings Of Spain, The Wedding Present, House Of Love, Jack L, Sophie B Hawkins, Sandi Thom, Lloyd Cole, Richie Havens, Ronnie Drew, Gemma Hayes, Declan O Rourke, Lisa Hannigan...& many many more.

To celebrate our 5th birthday, we're putting together a special programme between end Sept, right through the month of October, selecting some of our favourite acts who have played with us over the years, and throwing in one or two of our heroes, while always looking forward to bringing fresh quality acts into Cork.

The first announcement for will be made at 11pm on Monday 16th June, and go on sale at midnight the same night.
They are quite an influential act and one of our personal faves......

check out www.cyprusavenue.ie at the above time
for more information and to buy tickets.

I've seen some fantastic gigs there in the last few years.

I think the Editors one was a standout for me.

Stand out for me was the Maccabees. The Bluetones was the worst, not the band but the turnout.

Gwan, give us a clue. Like, what nationality or whether act has played in Cyprus Avenue or in Cork before.

'Influential', hmmm ........has to be The Velvet Underground......... ....if not, then I'm guessing either Echo and the Bunnymen, The Only Ones or the Jesus and Mary Chain ?
