I never got to tangle with the man himself but I fucking hate that club. They are true to the worst stereotypes and everything that is wrong with rugby.

the council already said it has to stay as recreational grounds, they'll probably cave to developers though.

good for con, 6 pitches, proper pavillion and dressing rooms. all weather training facilities.

costing the bones of 19 million.

fucking hate that club the amount of cold Saturday mornings spent down there playing their underage teams that had at least 4 or 5 overage players for every grade, getting changed in the run down changing rooms of the stands while the home team change in the clubhouse, then going out to play on the sidepitch "the beach".Still ended up beating them though the majority of the time.

Gonna miss it! ;-)

I've heard the figure is €30m & the recreational grounds lead to the spectulation that the Cork County Board are looking at buying it. Reason being combined with Pairc Ui Rinn they'd have room to build a modern venue with a vast capacity & therefore could sell Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Makes sense in some aspects but I think that the Coty needs 2 GAA stadiums of some sort like the way Pairc Ui Rinn does now.

19 million is the cost of the new development i think so con would have a good bit of cash left over.
the county board no way have that kind of money, and temple hill is a stupid place to build a new stadium, same as turners cross, no infrastructure, facilities, parking , access.
Pairc ui rinn is fine the way it is. Pairc ui caoimh needs to be redeveloped badly

I'd still prefer the purchase of the Showgrounds to be honest & floor The Pairc. I know the County Board dont have the money but I've heard from reliable GAA source outside of the county that HQ are looking to redelvop another ground to modern standards now that Croker is complete. Cant think of many more places badly in need of it.
