Following on from MossSide's finest yesterday saying how much pride it gave him as a Cork man to stand for God Save the Queen, the thought struck me, what would T McS and T McC make of this whole charade?

I had always thought of those two lads, who to be fair I am not the most read on, only ever seen a few documentaries, along with Christy Ring as being probably the three iconic Corkmen of the last century.

I'm sure Nimic has some reason up his sleve after quite obvioulsy tendering the WUM. So lets have it?

I have indeed.

As it happens I could be pulled on some far bigger issues that have slipped under the radar.

The following inscription can be found on the North Nave of Lisburn Cathedral

In sacred and ever-loving
Memory of
Oswald Ross Swanzy, D.I.,
Royal Irish Constabulary,
Who gave his life in Lisburn,
Sunday, 22nd August, 1920.
And of all his Gallant Comrades who
Like him have been killed in the
Unfaltering discharge of their duty
And in the service of their country.
"Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a
Crown of Life."

Erected by his mother and Irene his sister.

No mention of how he shot Tomas MacCurtin in front of his wife and five kids, that Unfaltering discharge of ammunition was very Gallant indeed

Nice work Legend, let me be the first to say that I'm not as well up on these issues as all good corkmen should be, it will be rectified.

I'm still interested to see the angle Nimic is spinning.

In fairness to LAMPS, calling Tordhealbhach Mac Suibhne, McSweeny instead of MacSwiney is hardly a 'PARKER'.

as for the original question, may i be so bold to point out, in the midst of all this anthem controversy, two points are rarely mentioned, God Save the Queen was alreadly played at Croke Park without incident or rancour during the special olympics, and secondly , one wonders if we'd be left sing our anthem in stadia across the globe if we sang the words in english???

Weak Lamps, weak.

What would Jesus make of all this? He'd be turning in his cave.

I know Nimic has some example tucked up his sleve to prove how Cork people stand with pride for GSTQ, I'm merely waiting to hear it.

They used to. Pre 1916, Cork City, at least, was pretty royalist...

Cork was also known as "Loyal Cork" pre-1916.

Yes, I saw lots of clips of that on the documentary the Burning of Cork, Union Jacks being hung from shopfronts and such, the great change that overtook the city prior to the British razing it to the ground was one of the things pointed out.

I'm hoping he has something a lot better than that
