It got a bit heated there before half time, around the 30 min mark onwards a few penalty decisions went awry for both teams and it got a bit nasty with some hefty challenges and a couple of bookings. It was great.

Vidic's run for the header was brilliant. First half was fairly even but United have been much better in the 2nd half so far.

Thought United were poor enough but defended sufficiently and took their goals well

61 goals now in the league
Bolton have less than half of that and are fifth
(Where are all the goals gonna come from?)

A poor enough game considering the two football sides on offer (Spurs were pretty turgid today but were doing well when it was a scrap) but another good win and United are effectively 7 points clear now (17 clear of the massively hyped Arsenal)

Scholes got man of the match I would have given the award to Carrick or Vidic

Another potentially tricky game out of the way

Id second that. Another good goal for Vidic but when doing his defensive duties I dont think anyone has been better than him this season. Respectable shouts to Toure and Dunne but Vidic is an animal of a man. Carrick played an intelligent game today. Think he may have been over-awed at the beginning of the season but he is quickly settling in now and his recent form has been impressive.

Heh, I was thinking in the first half that "if only Scholes would get out of Carrick and Rooney's way"!

He's a great little player but, bit like Ruud, I'm not sure there aren't some disadvantages to having him in the side. At least without a "minder" of some sort. His tackling in the first half was woeful, should have at least got booked. Mind you, that ref was all over the fucking place. Hardly biased one way or the other, just incompetent really.

Vidic or Giggs MOTM for me at least.

Good to see O Shea finally finding his niche in the team!

Carrick has been just superb recently, it was good to see the plaudits this week coming from Jol, and also from Fergie towards Rio. This has possibly been Rio's best ever season.

Does any footballer have a better leap in the box than Vidic? ..he's been lethal.

I only saw the second half but thought it was a good game, Spurs were worth a goal or two. But fantastic stuff from United, ...Championship worthy performances such as Liverpool 4-0 and Newcastle 6-2 in '03 that mean more than the actual 3 points.

I can't believe that Arsenal, who are so good at playing football are 17 points behind United and not the other way around. ...as Greavsie said, It's a funny old game.

Spent the day with the flatmate and his mate who are both from Helsingborgs and have just become avid United supporters obviously in the last month. ....some interesting stories from his youth as he went to the same school as them, ...from what they say he seems an odd kid kid who was known as the most boring fella in the town. ..great player though. ...very likely to be staying on.

Spurs deserved a goal but, ya, we can finally add this to another really serious statement about our championship credentials.

You did well to miss the first half

United were woeful and got dragged into a stupid niggly game which didn't suit both sides who are much more fluent normally-the ref was crap and should have booked a few more players, but he also booked players wrongly too-had a feeling it was gonna be an Upton Park situation till the first goal-the defense was very good today though

It was good to see Saha is still looking very sharp in the build up play when he came on. Has'nt had much game time recently but he's vital during the run in if Larsson is being true to his word & going home in March.

As for the ref I thought he was supposed to be the best young ref in England but the last couple of games I've seen him he's been poor to say the least.

One final thing. Ronaldo's dive yesterday was a disgrace. It sickens me to think the break through came from blatent cheating. Its all well saying 'ah but we should have had blah blah blah' but for me it spoilt the result.

On Ronaldo, with regards to his football, he has finally realised its the quailty not quantity of stepovers that count. Great show of pace & skill for Scholes' goal.

I watched umpteen replays yesterday and am still only 60/40 that he wasn't touched. Perhaps some were at the game or have access to angles I've not seen but I'm not sure how you'd be any surer than that.

It was either the best "dive" I've seen in a long while or there was some contact essentially because Malbranque's foot was only in there for an instant.

The way he fell portrayed that he was touched. Still as far as I'm concerned the fella has perfected the art of diving and its the only aspect of his game I truly hate. The way he plays he bound to give the ball away from time to time but why cant he stay on his feet?

The best example of how his diving can cost United was Clapham's goal for Birmingham last season. Butt fouled Ronaldo but the ref played on with the man who was marking Ronaldo free to break & ends up scoring. If Ronaldo had'nt his rep, United would have probably been awarded a free.

Mark Clattenburg

Mark Clattenburg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Clattenburg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Mark Clattenburg (born 13th March 1975) is one of many referees in the FA Premier League. He is based in Birtley, which the FA deems County Durham. He trained as an electrician and is of part-Canadian ancestry.

Clattenburg refereed his 1st football league match at the age of 25, possibly the youngest ever Football League referee and certainly the youngest in the post-war period. He had served only one year as an assistant - again a joint record shared with Steve Baines - but his promise led to rapid promotion. It was between Chesterfield and York City and Chesterfield ran out 4-1 winners.

He became a select group referee in 2004 and a FIFA referee in 2006 at the age of only thirty. Once again he reached this distinction earlier than any English referee in living memory.

He was the referee for Alan Shearer's testimonial match on May 11, 2006.

He was the referee who failed to award Pedro Mendes goal at Old Trafford, when the ball had clearly crossed the line, and he also failed to see Cristano Ronaldo dive when the sides met in 2007 and wrongly adward a penalty to United

In the 2005 - 2006 season, he refereed 24 competitive games, issuing 81 yellows and 4 reds.

Yerra, his leniency on Zokora was as bad. I can't for the life of me understand why refs do that. Let a bad tackle go. The whole idea of the yellow card before was that it was a warning that your card (literally) was marked and another bad challenge and you're gone.

That fuckwit Blatter has forced them into a corner though, because there's all these technicalities (like kicking the ball away) that are manditory yellow cards there'd be reds following all over the place then.

Missing the point like, it's the violent, dangerous play that should merit yellow cards and only serious technical violations should get the same treatment.

Some of it might be lovely but some of the touches in the final 3rd were fairly poor. A goal early would have settled them & it could have turned into the performance of the season. Must say I was most impressed by the way in which they killed the game off. If only they had gone for it like that after going a goal up 2 weeks ago.

Ya he should have been. Vidic was unfortunate to get booked for his challenge though. Not saying it balances out, just that Clattenberg feen is retarded.

Michael Dawson looks a fantastic player. In years to come I'd say he will be a big game player and first choice alongside Terry for Engerlund.

I think Spurs looked like a side that weren't far off Arsenal last year. You have got to be joking. Spurs looked like a side that would struggle in the AUL 3rd division. They were fine for a while but King's absence was made plainly obvious again. Dawson is OK but like all of the other Spurs players he lacks real presence. I'm disappointed that Davids and Jol couldn't see eye to eye. I thought Davids did as well as could have been expected of him last season and I'd take his crazy temperament over the temperament of the faggotts that took to the pitch on sunday.
