One of the most talented young hurlers in the country won't be gracing the league campaign this year (at least).

Why?

Because of the complete failure of his own county board to protect him from mullackers.

Above all, it's an indictment of the sort of anachronistic thinking still found in some quarters of the GAA hierarchy that values the nasty little cunt of a corner back over the prodigiously talented forward.

I dunno, like yourself, I read about it at the time. I thought it had all blown over but fair fucks to him for having the balls to telling them to get lost when they came calling this year. GAA are guilty of assuming that these lads owe them their unquestioning allegiance no matter how they're treated.

there was also talk that he was lined up to play rugby instead. in fairness he'd be an awful loss to the sport and to galway but i think between ger loughnane and his brother ollie he'll be back playing before the year is out

You're right. It isn't.

Would have been a better acronym.

Hasn't his brother just retired from inter-county hurling?.....I'm 99% sure that was announced during the week.

thats true. Typical Galway in my opinion to shoot themselves in the foot. Allow some tramp(s) get away with stamping on the best teen hurler in the country and as a result they lose their most consistant defender & best young talent.

Big loss. But hopefully joe will be back before the start of the season with some sweet talking. He's a star in the making.

didn't know ollie had retired. that changes things alright but it all depends on what ollie's reasons were, he was into his thirties and has been around awhile so it may just be age and have nothing to do with what happened to joe
