While some people were asking about it i am gonna post it,will fitzy be holding the cup up in march(for the clubs 12th time;) )or will it stay in dublin or go to kerry??
What do all our fair posters have to say??My thoughts? If we make the play offs, its ours again.

WHEN we make the playoffs. It will be difficult. Tralee will still be on a high so they will be hard to beat IMO. When Neptune play demons in Feb. and we beat them, that will be the end of them and this is when we will advance. In the playoffs anything could happen so I will go with my heart on this and say Neptune will take the title. Apparently I'm quite good at predictions heh heh.

Well last thread i started came through as well, anyway we all know only one cork team has got what it takes to win(it aint demons)and if the play offs are in the stadium home court advantage will suit fitzy mick and the lads.

Well that makes sense at last ...somebody finally admitting that the playoffs need to be in the Shed for neptune to win something ....Well done i commend your honesty.

Tigers coach was on the iba page and called neptune stadium the home of basketball in ireland,oh everyone in the stadium know you all look at our home with green eyes, tell me do demons still own the land that they bought out by the dump about 20 years ago? back when the club was planing to move to the southside.A good place for a demons shed out with all the rubbish, like the ball they are playing this year.

Tigers coach who ...what the fuck does he know about Irish basketball , where has ne been for the last 25 years and before . ....the traditional home of Cork Basketball is The Hall ............In Dublin the Oblate Hall and Vincents and the old st Brendans gym in Killarney .......another Johnny Come Lately making statements that dont stand up. .....

I agree that Demons are playing poorly this year but neptune have been doing that for a fair few years now lads so dont let what little brains you have run away from you. We are playing without a Bosman player and have had a bad year American wise , we all know that changes year on year

Neptune stadium is now the home of basketball,at the cup weekend we had this burd from dublin ringing every 2mins to see what we were up to,she was told nicely to fuck of as we have been holding events since before she was born.
admit it,it kills all the demons not having a shed of there own,we had the balls and guts to go out and build a home, our kids are not kicked out of the stadium after training (unlike up in the proc hole).yes we have had a few lean years but we are on the way back, our under 13 team are cork county board league winners,so we have one league in the bag already.:D :D

What would a BURD from dublin be doing ringing the shed during the cup when it hasnt been there for years and why was she told to fuck off ? ....dont get the relevance at all there man

He knew enough on how to win a national cup last week:rolleyes:. Granted the hall was the place for all basketball in cork but basketball itself needed a proper basketball arena. At the time Neptune had the balls to do something about it. Without the stadium basketball would never have reached the heights it did in the mid to late 80s. We had the stadium (that everyone envied us for), all we needed was the team and Ken Black brought that to Irish basketball. He set standards back then that teams of today can only dream about. When the stadium came along so did the television cameras.

National cup semi-finals my man,Oh i forgot demons would know nothing about holding events as they only rent there home,oh by the way the burd was your wan massy, still some day demons might someday have there own place(but thats gonna be a long time coming)and might find out what its like to hold big events.:D :D

Well bad weekend for the southern teams,so its as you were in the table, were you in dublin demons till i die?our game was shocking,no defence played by either team and the hoops are a one trick team they had something like 11 or 12 3pointers.

really wasnt a good night last for the southern teams. they all lost  it's gonna be a close battle, theres a point between neptune and demons. the game between neptune and demons could decide it all.

yeah i was at the game in Dublin last night .... great game of basketball without all the fuss and so on. ...Demons with only seven player due to injury and sickness put up a great show. And led by a few in the last quarter but Collings ( the Ref ) manged to pull it out of the bag again . Great performance with what they had though and a great game of basketball , i enjoyed it .

Shit, last weekend was even worse for you than I thought. lost a cup final, You proved you have the worst fans in the country, your players get pissed fall down and get injured and the following week they are still suffering hangovers so they miss a game, and to top it all off the ref robs ye again. And obviously you know everyone from the glen or is that everyone who plays with or supports neptune from the glen . Wells lads after reading the echo same ould crap out of JC he just loves slating us,and of coures demons were unlucky while we were crap, nice one john, our stats man told me it was 12 3pointers for the hoops and the paper said 18,someone cant see it seems.
still if neptune had played man to man instead of zone we could have won the game,or even if we had played a bit of defence for one qurt.
Pity i can change the thread title to will any cork team win the league!!!

Not looking good for us but if we beat demons on the 24(and we will)it will blow it all wide open again off that i am sure, what happened with cuffe anyway?its sad to see been honest about it the lad has skills but head seems to have grown VERY big in the last year, still i hope it works out ok.

So do i take it Neptune lost then ?....and dont be so sure about a neptune victory over demons .

Carlton is a decent player and good lad ....In my opinion the coach has under used him in preference of others . Its not carlton's fault but he's had enough of it and i dont blame him one bit

I'm not sayin he shoulnt bide his time , I'm saying recently we had a game away at Vincents in Dublin with only 7 players and he played very little of the game. We lost by a point and the other 6 players were knackered. Now is that good coaching when a player of Carltons ability is on the bench . For me its not.......And once again you cant be sure of basketball results and nobody has answered my question DID Neptune win or lose ... I am assuming you lost cos we'd never hear the end of it if you won .... So after all the talk throughout the season about Winning the league and how poor demons were , you are struggling to make the playoffs ...unbelievable . In fact now you are telling me that you will probably have to beat Demons to go through...oh this season is shaping up for a nice finish methinks ... Is it any wonder it was hard to get an answer from you lot...it seems like Drip and Sunbabe have eloped to be married in a foreign country ... probably by "Gentlemen " who has previously skidaddled .....dont tell me " Sully" is Best man .....Are Neptune hosting the playoffs this year or havent they decided yet ?

Was not there last night so i cant say much about it,i was in the hall all day yesterday some great games up there neptune won 1 out of 4 finals and the team that won the 11b final are really an A league team and the 13a final was a no contest as the neptune team were missing there 2best players.

You should have been in the hall yesterday lad, there are loads i get on with in demons but the way the parents of your under 13 team acted made me sick, laughing at a young lad hitting an air ball!!!Old man coughlan giving the winners the cup before the runners up got there medals!!!

Hmmmmm! 1 out of 3 thats about 33 1/3%........ blame the refs........ yer only way out. Look at your own club before calling another club a discgrace. It will all come down to saturday night. I don't think people were saying that Neptune were going to "win the league". We were saying that if they get into the playoffs that they would have a great chance of taking the title. Fair dues to demons though for getting into the position they are in today but you must admit that neptune losing some terrible games to let demons into that position contributed to that. Games that they should have easily won. A lot at stake on saturday night. The loser I think will be out of the running.

I dont think demons are out of it if the lose on saturday ... st paul's could let both of them in irrespective of the result on saturday. Neptune have lost some poor games particularly at home. Everyone will lose away games at some stage through bad play , bad coaching , bad referee's ( i heard the refs in Dublin at the weekend for Marian game were appalling ) . I'm glad demons are in with a shout and we are due a result over neptune this season.

Best of luck to both teams at the weekend....I'm sure it will be a cracker with both teams season on the line.....

Looking at the table if it pans out as folllows:
Neptune need to win all their games
Demons win all their games except 1 (Neptune)
Killarney win all their games except 1 (Neptune)

Killarney will be out as they will have a record of 8-9 while the rest will have 9-9.
Neptune has to win all it's games to qualify....a tough order considering that they have lost 5 in a row!

For me I think that Killarney may go South because they have 2 games against Tralee...Although the 2 GAA heads will not be there they are sure to win one of the games.....
Demons are coming strong and are trying to rely on out running teams....pplaying like that they are no going to win every game left!!

Demons till I die

Thats amazing , cos its being going around that Price is going to Neptune. Now you would be welcome to him as far as i'm concerned ...he's a poor coach with shit personality and a bad man manager . I wouldnt take sasa though , theres enough nutters out there without having to get a another one.

#11sully
21-02-2007, 11:42 AM
How could you call price a bad coach in all fairness. After all, didn't he turn around your season when ye were playing crap. He also got ye to a cup final. When the team are playing bad the coach gets all the crap thrown at him so give the guy credit when it is due. Just look at yer league position now. If ye win on saturday night it will almost see ye qualify for the playoffs and end neptunes season.

Demons till I die
21-02-2007, 11:51 AM
Sully , you make the point yourself there , if the players are the reason for playing poorly early on then surely they must be the reason they are playing well now.... To be fair to Demons the Americans situation early on didnt help and the loss of the Bosman player. But it was Price who recruited the americans so he has to shoulder the blame. His management of the Carlton situation is poor also and this is not the first time this has happened...Mark kennedy before him and Shane McCarthy ...With the Irish players demons have had at their disposal ( and americans ) over the last 5-6 years we should have won more than one league title....so is it the coach or the players who takes the blame for that?

DTID. Both the players and the coach has to be blamed for this but as the coach (I presume) is being paid he will always bear the brunt of the abuse. It was plain to see on tv at the cup final that they (players + coach) weren't on the same wave length, even before tip off. Getting their plays mixed up.

Hows NY sunbabe?? When are you going to the garden?

It was plain to see on tv at the cup final that they (players + coach) weren't on the same wave length, even before tip off. Getting their plays mixed up.

Hows NY sunbabe?? When are you going to the garden?

havent gone yet, going saturday.

Thats amazing , cos its being going around that Price is going to Neptune. Now you would be welcome to him as far as i'm concerned ...he's a poor coach with shit personality and a bad man manager . I wouldnt take sasa though , theres enough nutters out there without having to get a another one.

A coach swap now that would be fun to see but it would never happen thats a given, one thing is for sure if demons win on saturday night thats our season over, and if we do lose it would be time to send sasa packing and put stodz in charge then.

lets be honest here..... it's looking bleek to say the least for any hope of neptune winning saturday night never mind qualify and win playoffs...... now i'll absolutely take the other side of it also and win the 3 games , and go on from there but the form we're in..... dont think so. Ok i will admit to not liking our chances in the last 2 derbys but we won those, but i'm a realist and surely we cant win saturday night and give demons the brush.

Ya, neptune weren't at the races last night. Fair dues to demons. They showed from the tip off that they wanted to win it more that demons. Price got his calls right last night with the subs he was making. Sasa made subs out of frustration and this is where he lost it as his frustration rubbed off on the players on court which in turn caused them to make school boy errors. The sooner Sasa goes the better for all concerened at neptune. Thy guy is a fucking twat. The last straw for me was the air ball from the free throw line. What a fucking LANGER. Oh how i'd love to see a Jasper or a Strickland gracing the basketball courts of ireland again. At least they played with passion in their hearts even if they were getting hammered on court. They would always give 100%. As I said, demons deserved their win as the were the better team by far on the night. Half time to be down by32 points says enough. Sunbabe you were luck to have escaped this shambles of an effort. Fuck I wouldn't even call it an effort.

Do you mean that played for both clubs or just each clubs first americans /

Demons had Wayne Williams and Dave Beckom / followed by Lennie Mac & Webster Means

Neptune had Gary Gardiner and Pete Strickland / followed by Reggie Holmes & Richard Montague

I'm not as old as you two but I will have a guess, that the first to play with both clubs were Lennie McMilan and Bob Stevens.

On the ball kid. I thought I saw Dave Backom in the stadium two weeks ago for the neptune / demons game. Is he still around Cork??. Not 100% sure if it was him or not but myself and a buddy were pretty sure it was.

Beckom is still in Cork, last time I was talking to him he was living in Douglas (I think).

So many tourneys in Neptune I'm not to sure at line up but will guess at:

Burgerland (Neptune),
Britvic (Demons)
Kingston,
Portsmouth,
Dynamo Moscow,
Harp (North Mon),
Jameson (St Vincents)
Murray Metals.

Wouldn't think the u11 league is over just yet, Neptune have to plat Mathews on Saturday and they are a very improved team. Neptune only beat then by 6 in the championship and Ballincollig only beat them by 1 after OT. So they are dangerous.

Yes it will be a tough game, but it is been played on full court so thats a big plus for neptune, I have seen some scoresheets off the neptune team and their scoring is crazy for an under 11 team, Hitting 59 points in one game, Now that is good.

Thats back when tournaments were brilliant , the Neptune tournament in my opinion was better up in the Hall ...Each Irish team were allowed 2 guests bringing the total American contingent to 4 on each time. I remember Demons having Marcus newburn & John Wiley and you would want to have seen wiley at 6ft 10' bringing the ball up the court and shooting from not too far inside the half way line ( before the 3 point rule ). Mind you Neptune once again pulled a fast one and apart from their own 2 americans , brought over Alton Byrd , Bob Roma & mark Saers to allow them to have 5 americans......kind of cheating like........ I remember the tournament well though ... man Utd had Will Brown , Ed Bona , Kevin Penney and were coached by Joe Whelton Junior ..

I'd agree with you about the old league system. It was much better and as you say the team that finishes on top are the league champs. End of.... The top four was always a different tournament at the end of the season.

You've brought this up before, but you never answered my question as to whether you think the current system is better or worse than a single, straight league with 7 or 8 competitors (probably Neptune, Demons, Tralee, Killarney, Killester, Hoops and maybe Ballina or Marian)? Remember, its not so long ago we had 14 SL teams, now we're down to 11.

Also, you complain about Killester, but they won 15 of 20 in the regular season, winning the Northern Conference, which was clearly the stronger of the 2 conferences this year. They were the best team, and the best team won it. There are problems with the system we have. Last 2 years, the best team did not win it, but until we get more money into the sport its the best we've got. And don't go moaning about mistakes made 15 years ago. We have to deal with the current situation.
