Looking at Aston Villa, does the league table lie? I know Martin O' Neill is a great manager, but what's gone wrong? He has the money now apparently, and a supportive Chairman, but what's the story? I would have thought that with all the injury problems that Newcastle have had, Villa would have been hoping for something out of last night's match, but they seem to have been woefully unlucky, (hitting the woodwork, Steve Harper having the game of his life, etc. etc.) are there any Villa supporters who can put forward any reasons as to why Villa are having such a torrid time of it at the moment, and will things improve in the summer? I hope for Martin O' Neill's sake they do.

He didn't have time at the end of the summer to get in new players and his new boys did well last night (one scored and one had a goal unfairly dissallowed)
Carew looks a fine signing
The jury is out at the moment on O'Neill but give him time he'll turn it round

Is David O' Leary going to become the Vicente Del Bosque of the premiership? Takes Leeds to the semi final of the Champions League, then takes over at Villa and gets shafted? Maybe he can become manager of Mexico.

He was saying recently that he would love to manage The Republic.
Typical of that wanker: I remember him saying around the time he was manager of Leeds that it would be something he'd be interested in "towards the end of his career".
Now that no chairman in The Premiership will touch him, lo and behold he's dying to get the job.
I never liked him, especially when he was manager of Leeds. When Liverpool pipped them for the last Champions League place on the last day of the 2000-2001 season he complained on Sky about some obscure refereeing decision that went against them in a game with Man United months before and said it cost them fourth place.
Utter tosser.
Martin O Neill is getting things started nicely at Villa.
..were very unlucky last night, and will finish higher and higher every year he will be at Villa.
He would do magnificent in the United job if ever given the chance.

Watched the highlights of that game last night and both Young and Carew looked very good. I hadn't seen much of Young up to that point but I was impressed. Carew has always been class imo
I think we'll see a strong finish to the season from Villa and a good push next season.. They have some very good youngsters tere who'll only get better, like Moore , Agbonlehor , Davis etc. and pretty good backing from the board
In fairness to O'Leary, not many of the team he got to the semi have gone on to have stellar careers after Leeds sold them. This is the team they put out in the second leg: Martyn, Mills, Ferdinand, Matteo, Harte, Bakke, Dacourt, Batty, Kewell, Viduka, Smith. Subs were Robinson, Kelly, Woodgate, McPhail, Wilcox, Burns, Maybury.
Look at that defence.
