Larsson scored Man Utd's opener in Sunday's win over Aston Villa
Manchester United's on-loan striker Henrik Larsson has been told by his Swedish club he can stay at Old Trafford until the end of the season.
Larsson, 35, who scored on his United debut in Sunday's FA Cup win over Aston Villa, signed from Helsingborg on a three-month loan deal this month.
But Helsingborg chairman Sten-Inge Fredin would allow Larsson to stay on.
"If he wants to stay then we'll open that discussion with United. We will not stand in his way," said Fredin.
Former Celtic and Barcelona striker Larsson, however, is refusing to consider his future with United - having only just made his debut.
"It is all ifs and I am just taking one match at a time at the moment," he told the Times newspaper.

No doubt Helsinborg will be handsomely compensated for this..........but wahey for Utd......he fit in very nicely yesterday and his link up play with rooney seemed quite nice.......shame rooney had a stinker of a game though, but still, that's great news.

Superb news. He doesnt look anything near 35 and will play a significant role for the rest of the season you would imagine.

Loads of games coming great to have the options I reckon he is still gonna go Saha Rooney first (like Cole and Yorke in 99) but the other two will have plenty of chances thats for sure
Lately its been O'Shea and co off the bench
Yesterday it was Ole before O'Shea (a much better option:))

Great for you guys but you dont live in Sweden.Henke was front page news with headline "the world hails Larsson" and then had 15 pages on his debut ...even a 2 page special on reaction from Pubs in the UK..............
I am a life long Man Utd fan and I think it is great that a player like Larsson is giving United another attacking option but god its painful reading the Swedish papers......

Green on one side and red on the other perhaps?
Green on one side and red on the other perhaps?
that would be a nice touch and a nod of respect towards his Irish connections at Celtic

Yeah I saw that
I think Fergie and the club wanna kill the speculation and take the pressure off
If United are still firing on a few fronts and if he is fit, i can't see him not staying
The Rossi loan has only added credence to that

there's still the smith anomaly to be considered. any sign of utd shifting him?

Not yet I'd say only it cant come some enough. He's all bluster & slide tackles & gives effort but isn't much good. If he was a quality striker Fergie wouldnt have tried turning him into a midfielder.

I dunno only Fergie can answer that its a tricky one
Smith and Ding Dong could be heading on loan maybe

what would they have to pay his club 1.2 million, sure they waste that on john o shea s wages:eek: ,hopefully he stays on till the end of the season and brings home a premiership medal

Exactly
he's staying, he's not staying, wait he's staying again, Ferguson hasn't a clue what he's doing.

Fergie has been consistent on this from day dot all the quotes have come from Sweden-Fergie has repeatedly said he is going in March I don't believe it for a minute though
Larsson will have the ultimate decision himself
He may get injured next week so there's no point in building it up
well according to my Helsingborg supporting buddies, they are the most cash-hungry club in all of Sweden. Other Swedish clubs only have to give them a sniff of the wallet and their players are off.
The fact that this loan deal even came about is evidence enough of that.
I'd say it's a certainty that it will be extended.
But obviously that can't be said now, an offer will need to be made nearer the time to make them look good and United will have needed to have moved into the last 8 in Europe.
out of his depth yesterday
