How's he doing at Sunderland?
Is he getting his game or was he just brought in to organise the christmas party?

Hasn't done a lot it would seem on the playing field. I know Keane publicly said he wasn't getting enough out of him a couple of months ago and I haven't seen any real change since.

Keane brought him in to try his role from the World Cup as a deep-lying passing midfielder. It doesn't seem to quite work as well in the hustle and bustle of the Championship but it was an imaginative one from Keane given the circumstances.

Given the style he was trying to implement at Sunderland, I think he's doing well to have them there or thereabouts for a playoff place as I thought it looked a little overambitious at first for the Championship. I saw them passing the ball out from the back and, when you think of how many big clubs just hoof it clear in the Prem, that takes a bit of bottle.

January is his first chance to stamp his moniker on this Sunderland side and it'll be interesting to see what takes shape as the season draws to a close. Ordinarily, he'd probably be looking towards building a team for next year but the stakes are so high for this year's promotion race with the new Sky deal for the Prem that you might see them have a cut off sneaking into the running for promotion this season. They seem fairly sound financially, might be worth throwing £5-6 million on players in the window.

Also, the lad Evans they're getting on loan from Utd is absolutely outstanding, should be a big improvement on the likes of Varga.
