So there it is. Young London Irish out-half Shane Geraghty has been named in the England Six Nations squad. I know most of us didn't know who he was before he led Ulster a merry dance at in the Heineken Cup, but it is stomach-turning to imagine that an Irish player has thrown his lot in with the Swing Low brigade. Especially when you consider what a problem area out-half is for Ireland. I mean, what happens if O'Gara gets injured? It doesn't bear thinking about.

Geraghty represented us at under-16 level, but was then allowed to slip away. Even then, we could still have had him right up to the last moment. Damn the IRFU and their petty politics when it comes to players playing in England. We're not the All-Blacks, we can't afford to ignore quality players. Yes, our team has never been better, but it's a squad game, and we should look to make the squad as strong as possible.

Havng said that, if Geraghty is happy to put on the white jersey and sing along with God Save the Queen, then, quite frankly, fuck him! We shouldn't want anyone who would play for England, but that doesn't absolve the IRFU. This shouldn't be allowed to happen again...

He's as English as bangers and mash lad. Played most grades for them and is from Coventry

As an aside does anyone truly believe that Dunner's, Strings and ROG wouldn't rather be plying their trade for the mainland kingpins. By God that would be a proud day down in Con.

p.s don't come back with highfield/shannon any smart-alecry

I wouldnt get too carried away about it, alot of English young players are very over-rated especially fly halfs when it comes to looking for Wilkinsons replacements and infact anyone that can save them from the depths they're in at the moment. The new favourites of the muppets at Sky seem to be half the backline of Gloucester.

And most of them are deeply ordinary and that scrum-half is bloody awful- all he does is crab and make a balls of the attack.
