TBH if you get a cheap kit it'll look crap, you get what you pay for. Your better off saving up for a good quality kit and get it fitted and sprayed correctly. If its a cheap kit it'll probably be fiberglass and will chip and crack easily, looking poor basically. Better to save up for mods properly and do them right.

Yeah, listen to the fella who's been there.

Being laughed at, that is. ;)

Kits are a load of bollocks. I can't help but laugh at the muppets driving around in 106's, Saxo's, Civic's etc with bumpers an inch off the ground and the "smoothened out" look. You know, fill in where the number plate used be.

 ffs, muppets.

if ur stuck for cash, i think a clean car well lowered on nice wheels looks the berries..with maybe a nice exhaust and debadged boot....otherwise body image in ballincollig is the place to go....4810888

cornell has done 2 cars for me, no complaint and a decent honest guy to deal with

A gard who's a boyracer?

Tut tut tut... ;)

You're right though. have it looking clean, lowered with a nice set of 17" wheels is all you need if you're stuck for cash.

it'll only look crap on a low budget if you get a kit.

I only ever tried to fit a kit to one car i had.

It was an E30 318is BMW.

'Never again' I said to myself after.

I think big wheels are going out again but i think they're all you need on a car.

I've 18" RS6 wheels on mine at the moment. Looks sweet but you've to balance um a fair bit.

gway you knacker rolling on 18" chromes etc etc.

that clio is fucking stupid and all, not a single engine mod - 17" wheels slowing it down, bucket seats(for what) there is nothing worse than sheep in wolves clothing. that goes for all the evo replicas aswell -tools all

ain't got the money then go for an old school motor plenty out there - deeps same size wheels and drop it = sweet

So when are you gonna buy a car that fellas your age drive?

You'd want to move on from your beginners car like. ;)

ya wankstain, wasn't interested in driving fast and never passed it off as being fast..besides anything big at the age when i had that and i'd of been rode by the insurance company....just wanted something that looked well. whats the point in spending all that money to drive it fast, crash it and make shite of it?

now i wouldn't spend that money again on a car, currently i just have my car lowered on nice wheels and that'll do me....

Perfect.

What are you driving now so?

Yes but you have to insure the car EVERY year.

Ends up being a lot more than just doin' a few modifications to the bodywork.

I'm fully aware of that - thanks - still 17" momos and sparco seats and that paint job, and kit must have been a daycent bit of money circa 3k anyway minimum - say for a better car 1.5 k difference in insurance in the first year sliding down - and more fun than a 1.2

That's your opinion. At least tornado is honest that he just wanted a good looking car. Not everyone who modifies their car wants balls-out speed. Some just want something that looks good. So many lads my age are driving around in 1 litre corsas, going on about power and what they've done it when the fact is, they just want a good looking car. Otherwise they're fooling no one.

Yeah i said that from the start that it was my opinion, thats what i was doing expressing my opinion. fact was i said its a waste of money doing up such cars (learned from experience on this one) he said he couldn't afford to insure anything else - which when you consider the cost of the work done - just isn't true. Now i don't have a problem with fellas going off doing up their car thats their money but unless it can back it up with power then i will laugh at them. no point on have twin 5" exhausts or some shit if you car is putting out 70bhp.

Why not? If it's purely for aesthetics and who ever has it done is honest about it, like, what's the problem?

And at 18 years of age, what would the insurance company let him insure?

A 1.6 Honda Civic? Brilliant. I'd rather a sweet lookin' Clio than a standerd Civic.

Sure you're 26 and only driving a N/A 2.0lt.

Pffff. Mockery. ;)

One car i always wanted as a young fella was a Opel Manta GTE or even an Astra GSI. Hang on, i also wanted the Ford Escort RS Turbo.

*sniff*

the list for me of old desired cars is seriously long - xr3i for example which wasn't even that quick and is a bucket of shit, the old crx (not the gay del sols) gsi and gte novas and astras, old old kadett sri's twin cam corolla gtis (not the coupes although i wanted one of them too) god the list is shameful

looks pretty nice, are you going to replace it or stick with the expense free driving?

Astra F GSi Turbo on the way for me at the weekend from London.

Sold my e30 325i Sport a few weeks back. Toyed with an e36 325i for a while but gone for the Astra instead! 250 bhp with 290 lb.ft on the rollers!

Can't wait!

i'm collecting this 2m....

http://images.carzone.ie/images/bradyscavanC-CBla302.jpg

some will argue its a bit womany but its diesel which i wanted

straight in for a stronger clutch and a remap though and you'll have some usable power, well wear hope the car works well for you.

you could always do it up like a DTM ;)

Hang_Sandwich
18-01-2007, 04:42 PM
tis semi a/t tiptronic so the clutch shouldnt much of a problem i hope... the only i'll do it change the wheels for 17s or 18s when the current tyres wear down, maybe a light window tint, thats it though. i need a diesel so i was glad to find this...but thanks for the good wishes!

The clutch would be fine but if you got it remapped you can increase power and torque massively on diesels - 150bhp golf to ~220 then you need to replace the clutch.
