Defender Lewin Nyatanga is set to return for Sunderland against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.
The 18-year-old Wales star missed Tuesday's win at QPR with a calf strain.
He is set to replace Stanislav Varga who is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season at Molineux last week.
Nyatanga, who is on loan from Derby until January, told the Journal: "I had a sore calf and there was no point risking it becoming worse. Had the QPR game been a day later I probably would have played.

"I was disappointed to miss out because I'd had a run of six straight games.
"When you have a decent squad like ours you know if you miss a game you run the risk of not getting back in, but I'm confident in my ability and hopefully I will."

With veteran Kenny Cunningham a long-term injury absentee and Clive Clarke and Neill Collins both out on loan, boss Roy Keane has only five fit defenders to select from for the game against the Canaries.
