A 10 day relax holiday for me and the better half

Neither city is going to be relaxing. Both are non-stop metropolitan areas - you want a quiet spot in the country. Havana will be closer and have less happening.

Goto Havana and jump on a Viazul bus out to a town called Trinidad.
Go to the tourist office there and there is lots to do.
Or nothing to do if that is what you are after.

Is there sandy beaches in Havana?

not that I know of.
About 30 kilometres east there is Veradero - a honeymoon hotspot with loads of beaches.
And then at trinidad there is Playa D'Ancon which is also lovely.
You should go to your nearest library and get a Cuba travel book??
