the rings. The actual name of the volcano is mt ngauruhoe. Check the
clouds!! the other picture is from a chairlift on the westside of the mountain.

that;s the one on the tongiriro crossing right? keen to climb that over the summer. slightly less dangerous.

Thats a pretty savage walk alright man. 1 hour to get there from the carpark. 3 hours to get to the top and 15 minutes to get back down again. Only done it once.

Did that walk during august of this year, one of the girls with us nearly got blown off the side of the mountain it was blowing a blizzard, definitly the most dangerous thing i did in NZ but well worth it for the views.

You did it during the summer. Only little girls do it during the summer. I was knee deep in snow when I climbed it.

Lads, can any old Joe Soap climb this or do you need to have experience in mountain climbimg and gear etc. How much time would be needed for it total?

joe soap could climb it fella. Don't do it in jeans and runners obviously. takes about 5-6 hours. worth doing alright.

If Snarmel can do it then anyone can, it's a really beautiful place and well worth the climb. Bring a few beers for when you reach the top, the last hour can get very boring. O the memories......
