Pricey, but the other two aren't true.

Well, there is a lot of dog shit, but it's no worse than Cork.

I liked Paris - you get rude people everywhere, especially Spain

Not particularly pricey either.
Only if you're gullible and stupid enough to pass your time in tourist areas then you deserve to be ripped off.
People wonder why they're being charged €4 for a coffee, when it turns out that it's a café on the Champs Elysée.

Actually, I was thinking about it and point taken.

Public transport is cheap. Entry to museums etc. is cheap. Hotels are cheap compared to cities of a similar size. Even a very touristy thing like the Bateau Mouches is only E8.

The one thing that is expensive is beer (even outside touristy areas).

Now I'm worried about what that single price comparison says about me

I know it's called the most romantic city in the world - but I have to say, I thought Venice topped that.

Having said that - I'm hardly one to judge seeing as I visited both places with members of my family LOL

I haven't been to Eurodisney, so can't really advise, but you'll easily find enough things to do in the city itself that you won't need to go there.

Generally in Paris, nightlife is more spread out than you'd find in Ireland and the UK. The disadvantage is that you don't get one single entertainment district, but the advantage is that you're rarely far from somewhere to go out. I'm not too familiar with the Montparnasse district in particular and haven't gone out in that area at all.

Im just back from a week in paris, like someone said the tourist-y areas are pricey for food and drink, but like everywhere else it depends where u eat.

didnt go to eurodisney, went to the disney store alright on the champs elysee and that did me :)
went on a day trip to versailles instead and it was well worth it. that place is unreal. the gardens the orchards, the lake, it was just beautiful. go there instead.

Like jungle said, getting into the tourist places is very reasonable considering your in some of the most recognisable tourist places in the world, the louvre €8.50 the eiffel tower was only €11.00, notre dame - free.

the walks and the parks are amazing aswell. The place de la concord was just gorgeous. and free.

The Louvre is free on the first Sunday of every month.
I've never once paid to get in there.

And museums.

Fantastic rule.

Else, I would have had very little culture while I lived there!

I believe it also does reduced admissions in the evenings twice a week and there's one day a week (Tuesday?) when it's half price.

I was thinking of heading there for New Years. Any good? A parisien I work with didn't seem to think so

A lot of French people don't like it because of the closed mentality of the Parisians. Some who have lived there grow to hate it for the same reason.

If you're going for a weekend or a week take no notice of the begrudgers, it's possibly the most beautiful city in the world. An absolute must.

Paris or The Louvre?

Paris is definitely worth a visit

It's good for a week, never mind a weekend.

One thing that always disappoints me there is the food though.

You walk into any restaurant in France outside Paris and the food is invariably good and usually cheap. In Paris, there's too much kack at a high price. And of course people who will tell you "You need to know where to go..."

I always tell people where to go.

I've lost track of the amount of people I've sent to one particular street in the Latin quarter for gorgeous, mouthwatering gastronomy at incredibly affordable prices.

There is good food to be found in Paris, but you need to find it.

Go in to any small town in France (or even regional city if Toulouse and Lyons count for all of them) and you will invariably get good food. There's no need to know where to go.

That could probably be said for the English view of London/Londoners as well!

And dare I say it, for most overly large European cities. There's something about too many people in a city making people a bit paranoid and wary of making new friends. Such a pity, I've always thought.

I don't think that's a disctinctly Parisien trait.

But rather a large city one.

Paris is a wonderful city, with fantastic restaurants, tons of things to see and do, a rich colourful history and the people are fine if you make a bit of an effort eith the language.

I LOVE paris, it rocks.

Paris
Yes some of the people /waiters are rude
but then again u get over it , as u meet those everywhere

it is'nt overly expensive u can get around cheaply the Metro is very good

for example u get get alot of freebies
For the Lourve
Musee de Orsay is free on first Sundays and the Louvre is free on Friday nights for folks under 26 from 6-9:45 p.m. (we went on a Friday and no one checked our Ages ! )
might be a good time to visit the Louvre if you want to miss the Da Vinci Code crowd

lived there for 8 months 6 yrs ago. never mind the rex club, you wanna check out 'la folie pigalle' in pigalle (think thats how u spell it). if you like deep house, then this is the spot stays open till midday. hopefully it's still around.

Reef

Oh jesus I'd be wary of folies. First off - the music is no longer deep house but filthy, sleazy techno. Second problem is 90% of the women in there are, in fact, men. Not just your average trannies either, stunning eastern European ones with all sorts of operations done on them.

I found the place very, very scary, but we did end up going there a few times when I lived in Paris because of the quality of the music in there. Unreal sound system in there too.

But, ehhh, beware!
