Just an outside observation here as i only saw the final this year - there seems to a huge lack of Kilkenny players in there. Walsh is the only defender nominated. What's that all about?

The shortlists were drawn up by a selection committee consisting of Donal O’Grady (chairman), Cyril Farrell, Dominic McKinley and Michael Duignan.

The winners will be selected by GPA members, all of whom have been issued with voting cards.

IMO this is a better way of picking a team than the all stars. We'll have no Ken Mcgrath at Midfield or Tommy Walsh at wing forward unless they played there.

In the football, Ciaran McDonald and Galvin are pitted against each other for one spot.
