Curran, though a few players were better than the list

Curran or Tommy Walsh, both brilliantly consistent all summer

It'll go to Sheff or Fitzpatrick.

I still don't rate Walsh

Walsh is probably the only player in the country who can comfortably play in a number of positions: corner back, wing back, midfield, wing forward, corner forward. Versatility like that is priceless, I'd love to have him in the Cork team

Not saying he's not a good player, but half forward or midfield for me. He is a very loose back, was it Ben was on him in this years final got 1-3 , plus he doesn't place his clearances. I just think he's over-rated.

I'd agree to a certain extent about Walsh at wing-back. He plays loose and as a result picks up an awful lot of loose ball. I wouldn't rate him near the top in terms of being a man-marker.

Shefflin will win hands down.
Surprised to see that eoin Kelly wasn't on the list. 2 Out of this world displays. Suppose brian murphy keeping him in his pocket has something to do with that.

a display and a half. Limerick game and half the waterford game.
I was at the Waterford game down the park, he had a field day in the first half but then waterford switched their marker at half time and he got one point from play and contributed little else in the second half. Kelly is deadly given space, but have a good tight marker like Brian Murphy on him and he can be contained

Very true. Still the most exciting hurler in the country for me. Imagine if he was in the cork or kilkenny team. Decent players around him and decent supply of ball. Probably lacking a bit of but some of the scores he's got not many players in the country are capable of.

true, he's hampered by poor service in the main. some of the points he got against limerick were incredible.

I think the fact that he's Tipp's only decent forward is of benefit to him in with regard to his individual tallies. He probably gets more high quality ball than any other forward in the country. I'm sure though that he'd prefer to be winning stuff ...

quality ball is no good unless you can use it, and he can use it..

I'd go for Fitzpatrick. He gave us the runaround to be honest and still loads of improvement there.

Still gives me nightmare thinking about it. In the cold light of day now, the selectors made an absolute balls of that final. it's no personal attack on John Allen as he made some good calls in the past, but that day was coming all year.

Saw Sully at centre forward on the local channel a few nights ago, looked like the best centre forward in the country by a mile. It'll be interesting to see how he does on Mulcahy this time. Paudie O sullivan look pretty nifty too

Paudie O' Sullivan is a great prospect, having said that, Midleton weren't up to much. Niall Fitz gave Pat Mul a bit of a roasting in the quarter final, which was a fair achievement given what was happening off the pitch at the time.

Saw that game. Destroyed midleton. First score he got was incredible. 3-7 in total. Pretty impressive stuff. Would be very intersting to see him line out there for Cork.

A viable option is Sully at Full Forward in a year or two, as replacement for Corcoran.Strong,Good hand in the air (most of the time) and capable of winning ball in tight situations.
Midletons Centre back couldnt compete with him physically the last day, but Pat Mul gave him a hurling lesson last year in the final, it'll be some battle on sunday

????

Sure he's probably the most versatile player in the country.

I'd say Cha will get it, is he up for the young player award too?

Once again I'm not saying he's shit. Just over-hyped. You have the likes of Ger canning who doesn't have a clue screaming when he makes a catch(and usually ballons the ball to the oppostion half back line) but forgets about all the scores his man gets. In recent years to name but some, Niall Gillagin, possibly Hayes for Galway in 2004(open to correction), Ben in the final this year have all racked up big scores off him despite him clearing lots of loose ball.

I still cannot fathom why cork didn't go man for man with shefflin and have sean og track every move, and bring sherlock on after 15 mins this year

And even after the dire performance they were still within a goal.

From what I remember Sully played midfield for the second half and probably some of the first half too. And to be fair Newtown did their best to bypass him.

The comments after the game from Newtwon selectors about who was the real rock were uncalled for, as was putting Mulcahy up for captain

ya they had to move him to try bring him into the game. It was pointless anyway because Naughton, Ben and Jerry were running rings around Cloynes half backs and midfield

Na Piarsaigh did the same in the county final two years ago, made sully look like a right prick

I thought he'd fill that role in the football too but...
