Newcastle defender Stephen Carr has pulled out of the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Cyprus and the Czech Republic.
Carr injured a knee in his club's defeat by Manchester United on Sunday.
Alan Quinn has withdrawn from the Cyprus game after the death of his mother while Kevin Doyle is a major doubt for Nicosia with an ankle injury.
Republic boss Steve Staunton has added Luton Town's Kevin Foley and Jay Tabb of Coventry City to his squad.
Reading striker Doyle took dips in the cool waters of the Irish Sea on Tuesday and Wednesday morning in an attempt to speed up his recovery.
Doyle, who has enjoyed a superb start to the Barclays Premiership campaign with three goals to his name, later joined the rest of the Republic squad on the flight to Cyprus.
Manager Steve Staunton said: "Hopefully a dip in the sea might help with the healing process.

Personally i don't think they should have taken carr back after he retired but still its another headache for Staunton.
