Colm Cooper has been excluded from the Opel Gaelic Players Association (GPA) nominations for football team of the year.
A temporary captain of All-Ireland champions Kerry, when Declan O'Sullivan was dropped after the Munster final, Cooper was criticised for failing to reach his normally high-scoring standards during the Munster championship but the move of Kieran Donaghy to full forward saw Cooper register 2-12 in the four knockout games. This included a timely 1-2 in the All-Ireland final and 1-3 in Kerry's watershed fourth-round defeat of Longford.
no major surprise, he was shit all year.

there were plenty stories bout gooch all year but realisitically he was below his exceptional standards all year and its no surprise he's not nominated... he'll be back next year

Yeah he was below his exceptional standards but most people except his father passing away had a major influence on his form. He's only a young fella, he said his dad was like his best bud in article in The Examiner and that he missed him terribly. Im just not up for criticising a young fella who is only an amateur and he just lost his dad. People who play sports have personal problems too and i imagine the dude is lost without his pops. He'll be back next year and is still one of the top 5 best forwards in the country.

Ya obviously he was affected by that, but are you saying the fact that he was ''supposedly'' on the Ran Tan for a few months after his father dying didnt affect his performance?
